We shouldn't be surprised about the existence of a Romanian film festival dedicated exclusively to students and their film productions. In recent years, Romania has become an appreciated cinematographic powerhouse, an important pole in worldwide cinematography, at least for Europe. I'm glad that this year, the International Student Film Festival FFeST of Cluj-Napoca has reached it's eighth edition, and passed the exam of maturity for those first seven years of existence with flying colors.
This is the undisputed proof that the festival, dedicated to film and art students after going through the first editions ended up having it's own identity, a high artistic and organizational level, becoming an event for Transylvania, appreciated by an ever growing and more visually cultured young audience.
A result of the collaboration between the Babes-Bolyai University, the Sapientia University, the University of Art and Design and TransFilmArt Association, FFeST completes, along with the famous TIFF, the image of Cluj as a city inhabited by many film and cinematography lovers. I wish it many more years of existence, just as many editions, and a distinguished audience of quality film aficionados.
